Strategic Plan for the State Attorney’s Office completed

Today in Novi Sad the USAID Rule of Law Project facilitated the third in a row two-day strategic planning session for the representatives of the State Attorney’s Office. With the guidance from the members of our team and our expert, Jarmila Bujak-Stanko, representatives of this institution were able to identify mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of the strategic plan and adequate indicators for evaluating performance. The Workshop participants tried to answer the questions such as ‘how to achieve uniform handling of the same type of cases in all units of the State Attorney’s Office?’ or ‘what is the best way to measure the effects of improved communication between the State Attorney’s Office and the represented bodies?’

The previous two sessions were held last year – in Vrsac in August and in Belgrade in December. Through team work and with expert guidance from the Project, the State Attorney’s Office managed to identify strategic priorities for institutional development as well as seven strategic goals which relate to improving the position of this institution, streamlining operational procedures to ensure more efficient handling of cases, qood quality representation and better planning of the budget and other resources, in addition to improving communication and raising awareness on the importance of the State Attorney’s Office among the broader professional community and the citizens. Adequate measures and concrete activities for operationalizing these goals have been identified as well.

This workshop rounded off the process of creating a comprehensive strategic framework which is the result of team efforts and open dialogue among colleagues. The State Attorney’s office now has a clearly outlined path to take in both mid and long-term initiatives.
